ABOUT MY WORK

My art follows two directions. Though separate in content, they both still depend on my personal vision and how I define it. Inspired by my world and what I see, in one way I depict my environment as it is. Through color and the influence of light, I take what is there and mold it to better show its effect on me. My subjects vary as well as the technique used to paint them but they all share something in common; I see them because in reality they are there.
There is another path that I follow in my work and that is one mostly influenced by an internal vision. I try to make a personal observation on the human experience avoiding any specific historical or time boundary. Though certain episodes may be suggested, it is the philosophical and psychological continuity of everything existing that is important. In these paintings, my boundaries are only limited by my own imagination and the whole universe. Although they are rendered in a realistic manner using form and light as seen in nature, the content of each work has to be looked at individually in an almost abstract way. That is, the feeling and emotion of the imagery is more important than the image itself.
